What was scheduled to be a campaign rally at the Harborside Event Center in Ft. Myers, Florida instead turned into a call for the American people to pray and reflect as the country is left stunned and confused following the midnight killing of 12 people during a movie premiere.
The president put aside politics to express what many of us are feeling,
“Such violence, such evil, is senseless, it’s beyond reason,”
The victims “loved and were loved,” the president said. “They had hopes for the future and they had dreams that were not yet fulfilled.
The film which was set to have a $170 Million opening weekend has many questioning the effects that violent films have on people. After the 2008 release of The Dark Knight , Heath Ledger who played the Joker, opened about how emotionally draining it was to play such a dark character, he died shortly after the release of the film.
