I don’t know what my first love is. However, I DO know that it’s between acting and music. I’ve been performing in commercials, stage-plays and movies since I was five years old. People closest to me know me as the young man who loves the world of theatre so my pick for January’s “Musical Of The Month” is Wicked. Wicked is the untold story of the witch of the west (made famous in the Wizard Of Oz). It’s a story that poses a question of whether people are born wicked…or if society makes them out to be that way. I’m going to have to go with that second option.
I love this musical because it relates to what minorities deal with in today’s world. From the very first number, we see that Elphaba (The Wicked Witch) is shunned at birth…because she was born with a different skin color. I’ve seen Wicked two or three times and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon, so the next time the production comes to town…I’m making it a point to hit it up. YOU SHOULD TOO!
