They say you can’t go home again. I say, sometimes you have to go home, just to know where you are. Because know matter who you are, how big a star you are or how important you think you are – going home has a way of putting things in perspective.

That’s the case for me. Everyone knows J Mac runs these streets from the Third Coast to the West Coast, Canada to Mexico, parts unknown and soon to be internationally. In Houston I’m a nonstop baller making money, making moves. But when I point my whip North and head 40 miles up the road to Conroe – I’m still the Freestyle King, but I’m also just James; the guy who is visiting his mother for Mother’s Day, who schooled his little brother at the local gym and who would rather kick back at his place with a book (some things never change) than listen to the knuckleheads and haters not willing to put in the work complain.

Yes, home is not only where the heart is, for me it is where the start is of everything I am and have accomplished today. It’s where my mother that gave me the tools, determination and confidence to be anything I wanted to be lives, it’s where I first dreamed the life I have now and where I will always be welcome – whether I’m a big star or just another brother trying to make a living from 9 to 5.

They say you can’t go home again, but you know Mac never listens to THEM. Go home, do it often, remember your roots and they will be a firm foundation as you continue to grow into the person you want to be and the life you want to have.

And let those there know how important they are to you. You might not have the chance to one day.

Happy Mother’s Day

Mac
