What’s a promise without commitment? Every year millions, if not billions, of people sit around and make New Year’s resolutions that are quickly forgotten with the turn of the year. Not Mac. You see the difference between successful people and those that want to be is not that they are prettier, smarter or have more resources at they’re disposal – though all of that might help – it’s the ability to follow through. It’s saying what you’re going to do and then doing what you say to make it simple.

Think of the new decade as a fresh start. That means setting goals to get where you want. Already, I’ve plotted a plan to the top. For me the next year is all about putting my money where my mouth is.

I’m putting off some of the bling and paying off debts, investing in my brand and continuing to support the community in anyway I can. And before the clock has struck midnight on the year my little brother and I will have the first, hopefully in a long line, of books out.

Radio, television, film and music: I’ve done it all but without a promise made to myself as a young adult and later on the campus of Texas Southern University as a student – and taking the necessary steps to fulfill it none of this would have ever happened. And I can’t stop. No, I won’t stop now. So, where do you want to be at the end of the year? Doing the same thing or on the road to your dreams? Figure out what you want, resolve to get there and plan out the necessary steps and you might be surprised just how far along you are on your own path to greatness by 2011
