Over the weekend during the 2017 NFL Draft a comment was made that Jay Cutler’s phone calls that he made to the Houston Texans were ignored and returned back.
At the time, it was funny considering that desperate need for a true quarterback for the team, but the GM Rick Smith is saying that rumor is not true.

During a radio interview, Rick Smith said, “I don’t know why that was reported. That’s just no true. I will tell you that that is not true.”
It was said after the Texans traded Brock Osweiler to the Browns that their best fit would have been Jay Cutler… and then rumors spread that the Texans might go for Tony Romo, but we know he has since retired.
It worked out for the Houston Texans because they drafted Deshaun Watson, a quarterback, 12th overall in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The latest on Jay Cutler is that he is still unsigned and maybe looking for an analyst gig.
Cutler was released from the Chicago Bears in March after spending from 2009-2016 with them as their starter.
