April is known for a lot of things, but we need to know that it’s also known for child abuse prevention month, #StopChildAbuse.
The Children’s Assessment Center (CAC) gives us statistics for child abuse and the facts are that every day they hear from children regarding abuse… sexual abuse that was committed by someone that they knew.
These “someones” could be anyone like a teacher, family friend, family member and yes, even a stranger.

They treat close to 4,000 sexually abused children a year… every year. And with that, the stats aren’t what we want to see, but it’s something that needs to get out there and everyone needs to learn.
  • One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before their  eighteenth birthday
  • Over 95% of children are abused by someone they know and trust
  • Only one in ten children will tell of their abuse
  • One in five children are solicited sexually while online
The CAC wants it to get out there, they want to bring attention to the children abuse so they are having events around town this month to help educate us.

There are a few other ways that they want to educate the public… esp the ones who do not go to their events too.
Here is what they have listed for you:
  • Contact The Children’s Assessment Center (CAC) to train you, your youth serving organization, school, church, etc.
  • Download The Children’s Assessment Center’s Tip Card to learn signs and symptoms of abuse and how to report abuse
  • Tour The CAC and learn more about the services provided and how you can be a part by emailing info@cac.hctx.net
  • Organize a Wear Blue Day to support April Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Take pictures and email them to us at info@cac.hctx.net so we may share them on our website and Facebook.
  • Copy Statistics and use them in communications with your friends, families or acquaintances to spread awareness on the number of children affected by child sexual abuse.
  • Like us on Facebook.  Post Facebook and Twitter Posts supporting The Children’s Assessment Center and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Don’t think twice, click on their Copy Statistics and just learn a few things about child abuse/children sexual abuse.
