The average person gets joy when their dreams come true. I get an even greater thrill when I get to be apart of someone else’s dream. As successful as King Keraun has become, you would think Directors of hit shows would be able to get into contact with him easily. Not exactly the case. LOL Word on the street is that ABC’s Blackish had been trying to reach Keraun for the longest, but weren’t having the best of luck. Ironically, Damilare Sonoiki is a friend of mine from Houston who recently became one of the show’s writers for season 2 and knew I could possibly be of some assistance.
It was as simple as me sending King a DM on Twitter and he was on set that next week. Congrats to both of these young dudes! It feels amazing to be apart of a circle that’s doing positive things with their platform and making the city proud every step of the way. Look out for King Keraun’s character “Smoke” on BLACKISH sometime next month. I’ll let you in on a lil secret… he’s playing a young barber! Sounds funny already if you ask me.
Black-ish starring Tracee Ellis Ross & Anthony Anderson
Airs Wednesdays at 8:30PM on ABC
