By now, you’ve most likely come across planking in some form. Maybe you’ve overheard somebody talking about planking or encountered the #planking hashtag on Twitter or seen a photo on Facebook of somebody lying facedown in the middle of a street…
What is Planking?
Planking, according to Wikipedia, is defined as:
An activity, popular in various parts of the world, consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game.[2] Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play.[2] The location should also be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved.
So basically you find the craziest places to lay stiff and take a photo. Blame the Australians for this mess. The game originated down under. Maybe they were that bored. Twitter was overloaded with planking photos and references. We don’t recommend anybody plank as there’s been reports of people getting arrested for planking on top of police cars and even dying after falling off high plank spots.
