Someone decided to have a little fun when Joshua Joehlin entered the Manatee County jail this weekend.

Bradenton Police officers arrested Joehlin Sunday on a felony charge of engaging in a lewd and lascivious act with a minor.

When Manatee County deputies booked the 20-year-old Texan in the jail, he listed “redneck” as his religion.

The 20-year-old man is currently in jail on $10,000 bond.

Police said that when they asked Joehlin about his religion, he responded with “redneck.”

The Bradenton Police Department released a statement about Joehlin’s unsual religious affiliation.  In it, officials wrote:

The arresting detective is reporting the arrestee’s proclaimed religion in the required section of the booking form.

Freedom of Religion allows for many forms of personal beliefs and arresting officers/detectives will document the response to the question on the booking form as answered by the arrestee.

The named religion is not a proclamation of the arresting officer/detective, but is that of the arrestee.
