A new lawsuit alleges that a pair of Houston-area Shell gas stations took advantage of the dire situations following Hurricane Beryl and unfairly upped prices on customers.
Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee filed the lawsuits, which alleges that the Shell gas station, located at 5910 W. Loop S. in Bellaire, raised the price of unleaded gas to $3.79 and $4.29 per gallon, an increase of 25% and 41% respectively from the pre-hurricane price of $3.03. Another Shell gas station allegedly sold premium gas for $5.49 per gallon, a 44% markup from $3.80 before the storm.
Following Beryl’s impact on our area, the attorney’s office said it received over 250 complaints of price gouging
