Dapper Dan of Harlem is a fashion legend. In the 1980s, his styles and designs were worn by some of the biggest names in hip-hop, to the point where actual designers such as Gucci would copy his style. Now the legend is getting a documentary thanks to “The Carmichael Show”‘s Jerrod Carmichael.

Carmichael will be partnering with Sony Pictures to develop the doc based on the Harlem icon and will be based on Dan’s upcoming memoir that will be released next year. The doc will be a coming-of-age story set to take place in 1980’s Harlem where the “Godfather of Hip-Hop Fashion” was king. High-end streetwear, custom pieces and more, Dan became a status symbol in hip-hop. Now almost 30 years later, he’s partnered with Gucci for an exclusive atelier and more.

Salute to the legend!
