At 53- years old, Mavis Wanczyk hit thr jackpot winning $758.7 million.
According to the local CBS Boston article, Mavis is a mother of two adult daughters who accompanied her the lottery headquarters to pick her winnings up.
Mavis told CBS that she founded out she had won when she was leaving work on Wednesday with a coworker.
“He’s reading these numbers, and I pull mine out, and I go, ‘Hey, I have that number… and I that… I have that!’ “
The executive director Michael Sweeney said, “We have validated the ticket.
Mavis spoke how she just got a ticket judt.to get it, “just for luck.”
She was onto something there. Mavis is truly the luckiest person around right now because she was the only person who won the full jackpot.
The store she bought the winning ticket gets $50,000 and they said, “We’re going to give all the money to charity, that’s our pattern. We really believe in supporting local charities.”
This makes the fourth time that Massachusetts has won the Powerball jackpot too. The other times were in 2011, 2012 & 2013.
