Legendary soul singer Cuba Gooding Sr. has died at the age of 72.
According to TMZ, the father to Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. was found dead in his car on Thursday in San Fernando Valley. Sources say the singer was slumped over in his silver Jaguar, parked on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, California. The fire department responded to the scene at 12:58 PM PT and attempted CPR — but they could not resuscitate him.
An anonymous insider told reporters that drug paraphernalia and alcohol containers were found in the car. Police also found empty alcohol containers and suspect Gooding died from an overdose. The singer is known as the star of the 70’s group The Main Ingredient and their hit single “Everybody Plays the Fool.”
The Los Angeles Police Department would not confirm the death, but said the coroner’s office was investigating a body found in a vehicle.
We’ll keep the Gooding family in our prayers.
