One hashtag says a lot… !
Today Andre Johnson signed his one-day contract with the Houston Texans so that he can officially retire from the game.
After Rick Smith talked about Johnson’s career, Andre gave the people a heartfelt press conference after saying things like, “My career ends here. Very excited to come back home.”
While he sat at the press conference table, Andre Johnson was showed that he was the same humble and quiet guy he has always been.
He even said that he never expected that the one-day contract would be such a big thing… “I’m so thankful. There are so many people who have helped me along the way.”
He expressed many thanks to a variety of people who he credits for helping his career out and he said, “Also want to say thank you to the fans. The love has been amazing. I came home, and I retired.”
He talked about his only regret and said, “The only regret I have is not helping this organization a world championship,” but he remembers the first playoff game they won against Cincinnati Bengals.
He addressed his game and his teammates saying, “To my teammates, I love you guys… Those are memories I’ll never forget.”
And with his mom present and tears in his eyes, Andre addressed her too.
He told the us how he remembered growing up struggling money wise and how he didn’t ever want to have to live like that again.
 “Everything I did on that field was because of you. Thank you for your advice, thank you for your love.,” Andre said to him mom. He also said a special thank you to his Uncle Andre saying that he was like a father figure to him and when he felt like he had no one to talk to, he knew he could call his Uncle.
Now, his teammates are showing their love and support for Andre with Tweets and IG posts…
There’s Duane Brown, he said on his IG page, “Proud to have share the same field, locker room and city with the homie @ajohnson1500. Only right to end it where it all started. Congrats big dawg.”
J.J. Watt tweeted out, “Thank you Andre.”
