The 2016 Texas State Fair is finally opening starting on September 30th and we all know that they are best known for their deep-fried goodies such as fried jello, cookie fries, Fernie’s down home chicken pot pie pocket with mac ‘n cheese dip, injectable great balls of BBQ and many more.
Now, you can enjoy those deep-fried goodies year round because one of the Fair’s award-winning concessionaire’s, Isaac Rousso decided to bring his idea to life and open a restaurant called “State Fair Treats.”

Isaac explains that it was during last year’s State Fair that he had his brilliant idea and now he’s done it, he brought his restaurant to a Plano, Texas and opened it inside of a Walmart.
The restaurant doesn’t offer a “Beer Garden” or “Wine Garden,” or any other alcohol, but their menu has 45 unique food items that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And we’re also in luck because Isaac is the creator of the cookie fries and customers can goodies like smokehouse sliders, corn dogs and cannolis.
One customer, Pam Sheridan said, “When I drove up today, I remembered it was opening day and I got really excited. Decided to get a corn dog before we shopped.”
“It’s convenient,” added Walmart shopper Judith Rhodes. “I’ve already given into a craving!”
“On September 30, we’ll introduce the cookie fries at our location at the State Fair of Texas, and then you’ll be able to get them here at the restaurant,” said Rousso.
