Update: ISIS claims responsibility for Brussels attacks.

Three explosions occurred in Brussels, the capital of Belgium killing 34 people and injuring over 170 more.

Reports from Belgium state that 20 people were killed at the Maalbeek metro station and 14 people at Brussels’ international airport.

The attacks come days after the capture of Europe’s most wanted man, Salah Abdeslam, was caught in a bloody police raid. One of the two explosions is confirmed as a suicide bombing. A blast occurred outside of security checkpoints near airline check-in counters.

The Maalbeek metro station where the blast happened is also near the European Union’s base.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel says, “We were fearing terrorist attacks, and that has now happened.”
