Walmart has a program called “Greenlight a Vet” that was launched ahead of Veteran’s Day day that is on November 11, 2015, in order so who our support for for everyone who has served.
There are four stories with four different people telling their versions…
The voiceover starts with saying, “It’s hard to show them our appreciation when, out of uniform, they’re more camouflage than ever.”
The first story is about Lourdes and she tells us how she came out of a tough neighborhood and joined the military at 17-years old. She says, “Being a place where tomorrow’s not guaranteed, you learn ho to value life. I went to Iraq, and I made it back home. So I can do anything.”
The second story is about Ian, he’s a 14-year member of the U.S. Marine Corps and he talks about his missions overseas. He says, I did over almost 5 years in active duty. Anything you’ve seen in a recruiters poster, I’ve done, jumped it, swam it. I still exercise like I’m active duty.
The third story is Lauren, she talks about her love for the Army. Lauren explains what it was like after she was out of active duty and explains to us that being without that uniform can feel lost, like you don’t know what to do with yourself.
Lauren was told by an Army Dr. that after she got out that she needed to get a dog so she did and then she started a service called, “Independence Paws.”
This is a service dog organization was designed to help the people with a disability.
The last two stories about Nathan and Joe… Nathan joined the Military police for 7-years. He’s a recent civilian… he says, “What are we coming home to.”
Joe, was a Army intelligence and then after being a vet, he became a police officer. Joe is glad that Walmart is united him and other vets together.
Walmart says that the green light symbolizes, “GO” and that means a tribute to the veterans and their willingness “to take action quickly no matter the challenge.”
The company has made a pledge to have hired 250,000 veterans by the year 2020 and last month, Walmart hired it’s 100,00th Vet.
So get a green light and turn it on for all over the veterans, young and old for the the Green light a Vet campaign.
