The Kansas City Chiefs made a Twitter announcement on July 28, 2015, that their safety Eric Berry was cleared to play football. That means that he will be starting in a preseason game, the first time since Berry was diagnosed on December 8, 2014, with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
His diagnosis came about after a mass was discovered in his chest after a game in November 2014, when he complained of chest pain.

At the time, the Dr. who treated him, Dr. Christopher Flowers, a lymphoma specialist at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, had said of Berry’s diagnosis “This is a diagnosis that is very treatable and potentially curable with standard chemotherapy approaches. The goal of Mr. Berry’s treatment is to cure his lymphoma and e are beginning that treatment now.”
So, it’s happening on Saturday night when the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing against the Arizona Cardinals when Berry will hit the field in his first NFL game since 2014.
Their head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday that Berry will for sure being seeing some playtime, but how much of that playtime is unknown at this time.
The team’s announcement is a good thing, it shows that he kicked cancers butt!
