Lifetime fresh off the Aaliyah biopic is now gearing up for another. This time it’s the Whitney Houston story directed by Angela Bassett.
The movie stars Yaya DeCosta (The Butler) in the title role and Arlen Escarpeta (Into the Storm’s) as Bobby Brown.
The film will follow Whitney’s life from the Newark, New Jersey church choir she sang in
to the heights of global superstardom. It will also deal with the singer’s darker side, from her tumultuous relationship with Bobby Brown to her struggles with addiction.
It debuts on Lifetime on January 17.
