Around the chamber, council members said many of their constituents have complained about the long wait for a recycling bin.
So who is going to get the 96-gallon, two-wheeling carts?
Council Member Michael Kubosh asked the head of solid waste, Harry Hayes, that very question.
Here’s part of the exchange:
Kubosh: Everybody’s gonna get a bin?
Hayes: Everybody that does not have a bin currently — a little over 95,000 homes that we provide direct service to.
Kubosh: So all of them are gonna get a bin?
Hayes: Everybody’s gonna get a bin. Everybody.
Kubosh: OK
According to Hayes, Houstonians who don’t have a recycling bin now can expect to see one curbside by the end of the year.
