(HOUSTON) — In a show of Tiger pride, former NFL star and Texas Southern University alumnus Michael Strahan pledged to donate $100,000 to TSU‘s marching band, “The Ocean of Soul.”
He made the announcement Tuesday on “LIVE with Kelly and Michael.”
In August, Strahan will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
The marching band has been invited to participate by leading a parade through downtown Canton and performing at the fan appreciation tailgate party on the Hall of Fame campus.
Last week, comedian Kevin Hart announced his support with a pledge to donate $50,000 to the band.
Strahan said Tuesday he couldn’t let Hart be the only one.
“I can’t let Kevin do it all alone, so I’m going to give them $100,000,” he said. “Thank you, Kevin, for the $50,000, and I’ll give the hundred and we’ll get the band there and hopefully the kids will have a great time. And I appreciate all the support.”
