(Long Beach, CA) — Social media remains abuzz over a picture of a Cal State Long Beach woman breastfeedingduring her college graduation. The picture of Karlesha Thurman breastfeeding her fourth-month-old daughter during last month’s graduation ceremonies went up on a Facebook group page Saturday night and started attracting both positive and negative attention. Since then, Thurman has received messages on Twitter supporting herbreastfeeding decision, while others have attacked her both for breastfeeding in public and putting the picture on social media. For her part, Thurman says she didn’t take the picture or post it to make a statement, and says “my daughter is happy and healthy, that’s all that matters to me.”
