Pharrell and Will.i.am Battle in Court
Pharrell may have gotten hitched over the weekend, but he’s not so wrapped up in newlywed bliss that he didn’t have time to respond to a lawsuit that Will.i.am is still trying to win to get the rights to the words “I Am.” After Skateboard P launched a YouTube channel called “I Am Other,” the “Black Eyed Peas” front man tried to order a judge to order Pharrell to stop using the phrase.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ Will.i.am argued that YouTubers might get confused over the “I Am” name and who’s behind the web effort, because he and Pharrell have both “achieved great distinction” in the hip hop industry. But Pharrell is basically like have a seat. He reportedly shot back that Will.i.am hasn’t achieved the same distinction at all and as a result there would be “zero confusion about who’s really behind the ‘I Am Other’ channel.” Bloop! Pharrell has counter sued to have his channel’s name protected. We’ll see how this one plays out!
