Classrooms in the Houston school district may be empty for the summer, but students in the district won’t have to worry about their stomachs being empty. The summer food-summer fun program kicks off June 11 and HISD food services spokesperson Julie Spreckelmeyer says no child will be turned away.

Adults may participate by purchasing breakfast for $2 and lunches for $3.25. Spreckelmeyer says the program exists to assist parents with proper nutrition.
