A southwest Houston home is overrun by bees.

Bee expert Carlos Hernandez says over 100,000 Africanized bees have set up shop in a home near Bellaire and Kirkwood. He says Africanized bees are far more aggressive than European bees we’re used to, making this a worst case scenario.

The hive was discovered when renters moved into the house after it had sat empty for several years. When Hernandez first went to the scene he found the neighbor’s dog, a 100-pound German shepard, dead-apparently from bee stings. Hernandez himself says he was stung more than 30 times working the colony. However, he says as dangerous as they are, they can actually be rehabilitated.
