This morning when we were listening to the Young Jeezy “Leave You Alone” Madd Hatta asked where the sample of this song came from.  He thought it was from a 90’s hip hop song.  He was right….kind of.  With a little bit of research here is what I found out.

Young Jeezy’s “Leave You Alone” is a sample from Lonnie Liston’s Smith “A Garden of Peace”

Listen for the sample @ the 1:00 mark.

Here was where Madd Hatta was partially correct.  Jay-Z also sampled the song for “Dead Presidents” a classic from his Reasonable Doubt CD.  Here is the story of how that song came together.
