Black History Month is the time in which we celebrate  historical African American people, events and culture.  Here is a list of local community events celebrating our rich black history during the month of February.

Houston Community College: Annual Black History Gala

Each year, HCC and its generous sponsors throw the Annual Black History Gala which raises scholarship funds for Houston Community College students. Past gala keynote speakers include Spike Lee, Soledad O’Brien and James Earl Jones. The gala takes place on Friday, February 25 at 7 p.m.

Community Artists’ Collective: Citywide African American Artists Exhibition

Community Artists’ Collective will host the 15th annual African American Artists Exhibition. Prize announcements will take place on Tuesday, February 1 at 8 p.m. followed by a reception on Friday, February 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
