(Merced County, CA) — Felony charges are being filed against a California man who allegedly lived with his dead uncle’s body for a month. Patrick Lara of Merced County is accused of stealing money from Adrian Lugo’s accounts and using the money for gambling while Lugo’s remains were decomposing. Officials say he used the victim’s ATM card for his spending spree. It’s not exactly clear what the 63-year-old died of, but his body was discovered last month covered in mold. Lara is facing felony charges of involuntary manslaughter and elder abuse.
