Sean Garrett is responsible for the biggest chart-topping songs including Usher’s ‘Yeah!’ and Ciara’s breakout track ‘Goodies.’ Obviously, the singer, rapper, producer and songwriter isn’t called “The Pen” (a nickname coined by Jay-Z) for nothing. Garrett has produced seventeen number one singles (and counting) and even signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation/ Columbia Records label! And next up, he’s hitting the studio with Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Rihanna.

PopEater spoke with Garrett not long after he dropped his new single ‘She Geeked’ to chat about his influence on the industry and why he wants to produce “next level sh*t” with Kanye West.

The ‘She Geeked’ remix just dropped. I’m digging it.

Thank you so much. I’m going to keep dropping bombs. The fans are pouring out their love for me and my man Black Elvis. At the end of the day, I’m all about the music. I just want to keep proving myself because I’m not an artist you can put into a box. One minute I’m on the piano singing an incredible pop ballad, and next you’ll see me doing a record like ‘She Geeked.’ I’m going to keep on dropping surprises. Watch out!

Honestly, you’ve already produced seventeen #1 singles. That’s proof you’re not like most other artists and producers out there. I’m not even a singer, but I want you producing my next record.

Ha! You got it, sweetie … You know, there are always going to be people I have to prove myself to, and I’m up for the challenge.

I heard you’re working with Britney Spears on her upcoming album. Can you give me any details?

I totally respect Britney’s privacy, so I have to keep it low … But I’m in a total creative zone, and I’m all about creating the hits. I’m producing some serious bombs. It’s going to be a hot ass album.

Who else are you working with?

Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Jesse McCartney, Beyonce. The list just keeps going. 2011 is going to be a magnificent year for music.

Is it difficult having to balance your own career while working with all these other singers?

No. I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life. Every day is a new day to create. One day I’m working with Usher and the next day, Bon Jovi. I have so much music in my heart and soul. Music makes people happy, so I’m not stopping. We have a new generation that needs to be heard. I’m going to keep it popping up here.

You actually released an whole mixtape album for FREE. No one does anything for free these days.

Yeah. It was for free because I love the music. I paid for that out of my own pocket. It did it for the fans because they deserve to be excited about another day in music. That’s my job. And it features the biggest names in music: Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Rocko, Roscoe Dash, Tyga, Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj and Soulja Boy. I made the mix tape for my fans.

You’ve collaborated with so many artists, but is there anyone you’re dying to work with?

Kanye West. That album would be absolutely amazing. I respect him so much. In due time, we’re going to catch up with each other. He is a musical genius. I want to do next level sh*t that hasn’t been done.
