49ers Owner Jed York Arrested in Ohio

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest in Ohio on suspicion of engaging in prostitution.

According to Columbiana County court records obtained by ESPN, York allegedly responded to an undercover advertisement on a prostitution website and arranged to meet a woman for sexual activity in exchange for $140. He was arrested Sunday morning after arriving at the meeting location with the cellphone authorities said was used to arrange the encounter.

York was initially charged with misdemeanor counts of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. As part of a plea agreement Monday, the prostitution charge was amended to disorderly conduct. York pleaded no contest to both charges and was ordered to pay $1,150 in fines. He also received one day in jail for each charge, with both days considered served.

Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino told ESPN that the plea arrangement was routine for someone facing similar charges who had no prior history of this type of criminal conduct.

The 49ers said in a statement that because the matter had been resolved legally, the team would not provide further comment. The NFL said it is aware of the case and will review it under the league’s personal conduct policy.

York, who is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, has served as the 49ers’ CEO since 2008 and became the team’s majority owner in 2024. During his leadership, San Francisco has reached three Super Bowls and overseen the construction and opening of Levi’s Stadium.
