Normani and 6LACK are definitely on the right path with fire, yet moody R&B. The two artists teamed up for “Waves” and its another heater. The track shows off Normani’s range, proving that she can bring out the best in regards of pop dance records to quiet storm records like “Waves.”
“I admire him as an artist, and he’s just … he’s amazing,” she told Zane Lowe about 6LACK. “He’s an amazing lyricist, and I feel like he took the record to a whole other level. I already love the record as is, but he totally exceeded any expectation I ever had, which was pretty high, because I admire him as an artist. He’s such an important artist, and I’ve been following his journey for a while now, and we’re really big fans of each other. Our text messages pretty much look like we’re complimenting each other.” The song, Normani cited “make love on a full moon” as her favorite lyric.
As far as when Normani’s debut album is dropping, the Houston-based singer revealed she’s dropping at the beginning of 2019 BUT “Love Lies” won’t be on it. “I feel like “Love Lies” was a moment of its own and I want it to remain that,” she said.
