You’ve heard of drunk texting. But have you heard about drunk spending? Apparently it’s an industry and Americans are buying plenty of things they don’t really need while inebriated. About $30 billion worth of stuff.
WREG reports that 68 million people admitted to drunk purchasing last year, on an average of $447 per person. The figure is double the amount that was spent in 2016.
The top purchase? Shoes and clothes. But don’t let that fool you. Young people (read: millennials) make up the bulk of drunk purchases and it is men, not women who are buying things strictly off impulse and the alcohol.
