Some cities in Canada have reported that their newly painted Pride crosswalk have been vandalized in one way or another.
In Lethbridge, the police was doing an investigation of black paint that was smeared on the crosswalk. In in another incident, someone put tar and manure across the the Pride colors.
Lethbridge’s Mayor Chris Spearman released a statement regarding the vandalism saying

“If this was something that was done deliberately to target Pride Fest and its members, it is incredibly disappointing to see a segment of our community treated with such disrespect. As a community, we will continue to embrace and celebrate diversity, and we encourage everyone t come together for Pride Fest events in the coming week.”
In Whitehorse Canada, witnesses said that a drive of a truck deliberately cross over the Pride crosswalk and spun their tires leaving skid marks.
The city’s Mayor Dan Curtis said, “It showcases there is a segment of our population – small as it may be – that is ignorant. They feel they have to disgrace something like this.”
The Mayor for Whitehorse Canada said that the skid marks couldn’t ruin the crosswalk since they burned the colors into the asphalt.
