On June 25, 2014, Sports Illustrated released their magazine issue making George Springer the cover picture and the caption reading, “An Unprecedented Look At How a Franchise Is Going Beyond Moneyball To Build the Game’s Next Big Thing…. Your 2017 World Series Champs” which gives the impression that they are referring to the Houston Astros.
Of course that magazine cover stirred up a lot of baseball fans screaming “no way” because at the time, the Astros were 33-46 for the season and that made them last place for the AL West.

Now we are in present time and it’s June 2017 and the Houston Astros have the best record in the Major League Baseball (MLB) with a their record being 38-16, giving them a 11 game lead over the Angels.
The cover of the 2014 magazine also said that Nolan Ryan was doing some “old-fashioned scouting” along with “modern metrics” like in MoneyBall.
Or course it’s too early in the season to make any definite calls, but they have scored 90 more runs than they have allowed and they could be better, but they still have 38 wins. The team needs .500 for the rest of the season in order to win 92 games.
Who has the predictions for the 2017 season?
