We’re all familiar with the Igbo and Yoruba proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” The proverb, which exists in many different African dialects, perfectly illustrates the cultural belief that it takes an entire community to help rear their young ones. The same sentiment can be applied to some of our favorite celebrities and influencers when it comes to their looks. While we may see many of Tinseltown’s elite grace the big screen or descend upon the red carpet serving face and giving life, we’re often unaware of how much work goes into grooming a celebrity for any event. The real stars are the village of stylists, hairstylists, and makeup artists working tirelessly to create red carpet perfection.

Behind some of the most swoon-worthy looks we’ve seen on our favorite self-proclaimed purple unicorn, Justine Skye, is Jacqueline Gabrielle. With the flick of her wrist, Jacqueline holds the power of glowing, dewy skin. She is skilled in flawlessly honing in on one’s attributes, as well as precisely capturing personality with the stroke of her brush.

In addition to making sure her clients exude confidence, Jacqueline’s top priority is being able to organically connect with those around her. “Working on set with editors, producers, photographers, you learn so much from everybody,” she explained.

Jacqueline, who always had a passion for cosmetics, originally enrolled in medical school and found herself unfulfilled. Like many millennials who find themselves with an insatiable feeling of untapped potential, she opted to switch gears and change her career trajectory rather than settle for a hefty paycheck in the medical field. Thankfully for us, the makeup connoisseur followed her gut feeling, clearing a path for limitless opportunities in the beauty business.

We’re excited to see what’s in store for the beauty buff in the near future.
