Florida International’s tight end Jonnu Smith’s senior season was put to end early after his pregnant girlfriend poured boiling hot water on him during an argument on Halloween night.
Smith is considered one of the top tight ends in the 2016 college football season and he was supposed to enter the 2016 NFL Draft taking it in the late round.
Mary Gaspar, Smith’s girlfriend is five months pregnant and according to the two, the couple was arguing all day because Mary don’t feel that she was getting the lack of attention from Smith. She said that she was, “Feeling extremely emotional and stressed.”
Now, Smith suffers from severe burns on his head, neck, back, shoulder and his arm. His girlfriend was charged with aggravated battery. She admitted that she chose to boil that water and to pour it on Smith and when that didn’t look like it did much damage to him, Mary decided to open hand hit him on his person.
So far there’s no real indication regarding Smith’s damage, but we’ll have to see how he progresses in the drat or if he’ll go as an undrafted free agent.
