By the grace of God, Tracy Morgan is still with us and in good shape following a tragic car crash that took the life of his friend.
It’s really miraculous how he’s started walking again, reclaimed his life, and gotten back to work, because quite frankly, we were terrified he’d lost it all for a moment there. Now, the 47-year-old is all set to sit down with Oprah Winfrey on her network’s Super Soul Sunday show.
He’ll talk about his recovery and if we know Oprah like we think we know Oprah, we’ll shed at least a few tears in the process. Tune in to OWN on April 3rd at 11am EST to watch.
There’s a Snapchat short film competition happening and the King of Keys is in on it.
According to the latest reports, a few of our favorite Snappers will be selecting the ten shorts that’ll be shown at the 15th annual Tribeca Film Festival.

The Tribeca Film Festival and Snapchat have announced the jurors for their upcoming Snapchat short film competition.
Jessica Alba, Steve Aoki, Steve Buscemi, David Gordon Green, DJ Khaled, Shay Mitchell, and Vashtie will judge the first-ever Tribeca Snapchat Shorts competition. The eclectic group of judges, which includes actors like Alba and Buscemi as well as Snapchat gurus like DJ Khaled, will select 10 winning shorts to be shown at the 15th annual Tribeca Film Festival.

This year’s Oscars were controversial, to say the least.
Following Jada Pinkett Smith‘s call to boycott the annual awards show due to a severe lack in nominee diversity, there were a lot of racial incidents that caused a stir. To top it off, producers admit it was all planned.
Now, members of Public Enemy are speaking out about producers’ choice to use their 1990 song “Fight The Power” to start and end the show. Needless to say, they weren’t ecstatic.

Sunday’s Oscars started and ended with Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power,” the 1990 song originally written for Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing. The track bookended a ceremony that was otherwise rife with pointed criticism of Hollywood’s problem with diversity, a conversation that came to the foreground this year after the Oscar nominations were announced. (For the second year in a row, every acting nominee was white.)
But some of the members of the hip-hop group weren’t too pleased with the Academy’s choice of music. In a statement to TMZ, Professor Griff said, “The show can’t claim the blackness of Public Enemy’s message.”
Chuck D also made similar comments on Twitter after the broadcast. “The song Fight The Power is beyond me & the crew. The point of the song is a call to making change eventually not just applauding the thought,” he wrote. “Art speaking. Fight The Power. Make change. Demand respect. Do your own awards RIGHT & give indie artists & actors a chance to make a LIVING.”
According to Oscars music supervisor Byron Phillips, the creative choice was all about setting the tone for the night. Read more here.

Jack White & the Muppets got together to cover Stevie Wonder‘s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” for tonight’s season finale of The Muppets.

We already know that Jack White will guest on tonight’s season finale of The Muppets, ABC’s rebooted version of the television classic. And we’ve posted the clip of White and Kermit The Frog singing the White Stripes classic “Fell In Love With A Girl.” But the episode, which involves White helping Kermit and Miss Piggy feel the love again, will also feature White sitting in with Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem, the show’s house band, to cover Stevie Wonder’s beloved 1972 song “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.” The White/Muppets version is heavy on organ, horn, and slashing guitars, and it sounds exactly how you’d expect a Jack White/Muppets version of that song to sound. White’s Third Man is planning a vinyl release of the song, but it’s already streaming. Check it out at Apple Music or Tidal.

Persian actress Sarah Shahi is all set to play Nancy Drew in the upcoming CBS series Drew – and we should note, she’s the first person of color to snag the role.

Persian actress Sarah Shahi will be the first person of color to play Nancy Drew onscreen. Shahi (Person of Interest, The L Word) will take on the role of the famous female detective in the upcoming CBS series Drew. The show will use the book series as a jumping-off point, portraying Nancy Drew in her 30s, working as a police officer in New York City.
