Houston Texan’s Defensive End, J.J. Watt attended a gala event in San Francisco that was celebrating Super Bowl 50 when he was interviewed by the Associated Press.
They asked J.J. about the latest issues and findings regarding the concussions in the NFL and with the latest movie is out with Will Smith playing the forensic pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu.
J.J.’s response to the concussion findings etc…  was:

“I think theres this big perception out there that players have been shocked by the concussion news that came out and while we are learning a lot about it, while we do understand that there are serious implications that come with it.
I don’t think any of us got into this game thinking we were never going to hit our heads.
I know for a fact that every time I go out to practice I am going to hit my head.
It’s just like a firefighter knows he may have to go into a fire at some point or a soldier knows that he may get shot at some point.”
Watt continued with saying, “You never get that test out of your mouth until you get to Super Bowl, so I’m looking forward to get towards it again. That’s why I will never go until I play in one.”
Watt also spoke about his former coaches, Gary Kubiak and Wade Phillips and he said, “It’s a really good matchup, honestly. But my former coaching staff is Gary Kubiak, Wade Phillips and those guys (in Denver), so I have a lot of respect and a lot of love for them. So I think it would be great if they won one.”
If know your Texans’ than you know that Kubiak and Wade aren’t the only “former Texans” who are playing in this weekends Super Bowl 50… you know the joke is that the Broncos are the other Texans team.

Here’s the list of former Texans on the Denver roster:

  • Tackle Ryan Harris
  • Center James Ferentz
  • Tight End Owen Daniels
  • Defensive End Antonio Smith
  • Safety Shiloh Keo
  • Head Coach Gary Kubiak
  • Offensive Coordinator Rick Dennison
  • Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips
  • Linebackers coach Reggie Herring
  • QB Coach/PassingGame Coordinator Greg Knapp
  • Defensive Line coach Bill Kollar
  • Asst. WR coach Marc Lubick
  • Tight Ends coach Brian Pariani
