Earlier this year, Jennifer Lawrence wrote a passionate essay addressing Hollywood’s ongoing gender inequality issues.

While the essay certainly reached a lot of big names in the business, who spoke out with a lot of support for the Hunger Games star’s words, it’s rubbed some the wrong way.

Chris Rock recently responded to J. Law’s comments about inequality as far as payment of actors and actresses with the New Yorker, and he expressed some criticism.

The veteran comedian turned the conversation over to the concept of race being a bigger factor, expressing, “Black women have the hardest gig in show business. You hear Jennifer Lawrence complaining about getting paid less because she’s a woman—if she was black, she’d really have something to complain about.”

Leslie Jones, who was profiled by the prestigious outlet, also chimed in on being treated much more differently as a comedian because of her race, compared to non-minority comedians.

She stated, “Every black comedian in the country knew what I could do. But that doesn’t mean everyone else is paying attention.

What are your thoughts on Chris Rock’s statements in response to J. Law’s?
