A week after the success of “The Wiz” Lionsgate TV and ABC announces their upcoming music event of movie classic Dirty Dancing.
The three-hour event will be an adaption of the original 1987 hit romantic drama filled with song and dance performances. This new ABC network musical event will star Academy Award nominated actress, singer, and author Abigail Breslin casted as ‘Baby.’ Breslin is known for her roles in “Freak Show,” “Scream Queens,” and “Little Miss Sunshine.”

“Dirty Dancing” is a global phenomenon with a film soundtracks that’s generated two multi-platinum albums. The single “(I’ve Had” The Time of My Life” won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Duet.
The film’s been an iconic franchise title in Lionsgate’s library for over a decade selling hundreds of thousands of copies each year.
