Saw this story on ABC News,

Facebook has teamed up with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to send out Amber Alerts to the newsfeeds of users in specific areas where a child has gone missing. The program, which began yesterday (January 13th), will allow people to also share the alerts, which can include pictures, with their friends, helping the news to spread even quicker. Facebook’s Security, Trust and Safety manager Emily Vacher told ABC News of the partnership, “Facebook . . . in essence in this situation, is the world’s largest neighborhood watch.”

That’s great.  As a parent it’s sad when I see missing children.  With Facebook being the go-to social media site and everyone is on there, this only makes sense.
