(LEAGUE CITY, TX) — A 2-year-old boy with a possible head injury was found unresponsive Tuesday in League City, and his father is being charged.

The boy’s father, 25-year-old Derek Wells, called 911 around 3:45 p.m. and told dispatchers his son was unresponsive.

League City police and EMS were sent to the 2100 block of Redwood Drive near Marina Bay and Seminole, where the child was living with his father in an unfinished garage.

The toddler was transported to Clear Lake Regional Hospital, and then transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Wells is charged with injury to a child in Galveston County. Bond was set at $100,000.

The city is checking to see whether the the landlords violated any city ordinances. There is no word on the mother’s location.
