(HOUSTON) — A jogger found an 8-month-old baby girl who went missing when her mother’s car was stolen early Monday in north Houston. Police released a sketch of her alleged abductor, who remains at large.

Genesis Haley was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital to be checked out. Police said the baby was found to be OK and has been released to her mother.

An Amber Alert was issued for Genesis around 3 a.m. She was in her mother’s car when it was allegedly stolen from a Texaco at 1110 North Sam Houston Parkway West.

According to Houston police, the mother said she left Genesis in her Saturn Ion when she went inside to pay for gas. When she looked outside, her car was being driven away with her baby inside.

The Saturn was abandoned on nearby Greens Parkway near Fall Lake Road. Its license plates had been removed, and some items from inside were taken and dumped in a grassy area, but Genesis and her car seat were nowhere to be found.

Hong Nguyen was jogging in the 11300 block of Ella Boulevard near Gears Rd. in north Houston around 7:45 a.m. when she heard a baby crying.

She followed the sound of the baby’s cries and found Genesis, who was in her car seat amid some tall grass.

“I called 911 and, after about 10 minutes, two policemen came and they put the baby in the car,” Nguyen said.

sketchThe Amber Alert has been canceled. No arrests have been made.

Houston police released a sketch of the suspect, described only as a black male in his late teens or early 20s. He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall.

It’s unclear whether the mother will face charges. She said she left her car running to keep Genesis cool.
