(HOUSTON) — The Rice School is just one of the schools in Houston Independent School District that was in session making up a bad weather day Monday, but they found a unique way to mark the Memorial Day holiday.
Principal Kimberly Hobbs said students commemorated Memorial Day with interesting activities, including a human flag.

The students wore either red, white or blue shirts and stood outside to form the flag.
“We certainly are excited about the human flag we put together for our K-8 students,” Hobbs said. “We have 1,153 students, and we wanted to make this a fun day; a unique day.”
Hobbs said the students also had discussions about the freedoms we enjoy thanks to veterans, and they spent some time writing thank-you notes to service members and their families to acknowledge their duty and sacrifice.
