(HOUSTON) — A woman was given five years of probation for having sex with her best friend’s teen son.

Karen Carsten, 43, was convicted of sexual assault of a child.
The affair began while the boy was 13, with some of the encounters taking place while the boy’s mother was hospitalized.
The boy says they had sex several times before Carsten moved out of state when he was 15.
Carsten will serve 30 days in jail before starting probation.
