Miss America, Nina Davuluri, was asked out to the school prom during a question-and-answer portion of an assembly on Thursday.
The Central York High School administrators didn’t find it to cute and gave the 18-year-old student, Patrick Farves, a three-day-in-school suspension.
Miss America is asking the Pennsylvania school district to reconsider the punishment.
School officials heard about what Farves was intending to do and warned him not to do it.
Students at the school cheered afterwards.
Additionally, Davuluri had to turn down Farves because her travel schedule would prevent her from attending the dance.
Miss America spoke to the students at the school to stress the importance of Science, technology, engineering and math studies.
