Edwin Garcia

(RICHMOND, TX) — A Sugar Land man is facing several drug charges after telling police he was trying to find his girlfriend’s house.

Richmond police said Edwin Garcia was swerving in the 600 block of Morton Street on Sunday night when they stopped him.

The Latest News Headlines, Traffic and Weather:

Garcia explained he was lost and in a hurry to get to his girlfriend’s house, but police said he gave permission for officers to search his car anyway.

Inside, they reportedly found three ounces of cocaine, several hundred Xanax pills, more than 50 ecstasy tablets and a pound of marijuana.

The traffic stop was within 1,000 feet of a school, which enhanced all of the charges. He was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone and possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone.

Instead of his girlfriend’s house, Garcia is now in the Fort Bend County Jail. At last check, no bond had been set.
