The push is on to bring one of the most feared drug cartel leaders to justice in the United States.

Texas Congressman Michael McCaul wants suspected Mexican drug cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to spend the rest of his life in a U.S. prison.

McCaul called Guzman “the largest drug kingpin that we have ever known.  One of the biggest threats to the world.”

Guzman was recently arrested by Mexican authorities with the help of  U.S. intelligence and is currently being held in a Mexican prison. But Guzman has escaped from Mexican authorities before.

McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, says he would feel better if  ”El Chapo” was behind bars in the U.S.

McCaul says “we can extradite him to the United States, put him in a super max prison and I feel very confident given our federal prosecutors and I was one of them, could get him life in prison.”

U.S. authorities say Guzman’s drug cartel is responsible for 25 percent of all the illegal drugs in the United States.
