As clashes between protestors and government officials in Venezuela have escalated in recent days, one superstar is sending a message of peace.

In a press conference before a performance during the Viña del Mar music festival in Chile, Ricky Martin issued a plea for an end to the violence.

“The images that are being shown (on TV) are incredible, not another drop of blood please,” he said. “Let’s pray for Venezuela.”

Martin joins a number of other celebrities in calling for an end to the clashes in the Latin American country. Actor Wilmer Valderrama posted an emotional video on Instagram, saying  in Spanish “Feeling a lot of pain, I want to send a message to my Venezuela so that you know that I love you a lot and that I support you… I am with you all. I love you.”

At least 13 people have died during the Venezuelan protests, which call for the resignation of President Nicolas Maduro. Opposition supporters are fighting skyrocketing levels of violent crime, repression of political rivals, food shortages, and high inflation.
