Sam Houston Monument in Hermann Park (Wikipedia)

(HOUSTON, TX)– Several works of art are going up to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Houston’s Hermann Park.  The first is a unique, interactive sculpture out of saplings and twigs that form a maze of pathways and windows.  Doreen Stoller, with the Hermann Park Conservancy says the piece called “boogie-woogie” will not last forever; in fact it will eventually become part of the park.

“The pieces tend to last 3 -5 years and nature takes her toll and we’ll run it through a chipper-shredder and mulch it out for the park when it’s all finished with.”

Look for seven other works of art to be displayed during Hermann Park’s centennial year.
